Global warming - I believe it

October 07, 2007 By: Chris Category: Humor, My Experiences, Recreation, The Neighborhood No COMMENTS →

My God it’s unbelievably hot today! It’s 31 C and with the humidity it’s 38! I can’t believe it because of the month we’re in. A week ago it was around these temps for 3 days straight. Not that I mind it, but when is it going to stop! I just thank God that I didn’t take the A/C units out of the window when we hit a minor cold snap a while ago.

I am one of those Canadians who love the colder weather because that is what we all grew up with. It was quite normal in the late 60’s early 70’s to have single snow fall accumulations of up to 3 feet.

While at work I run into recently landed immigrants who think that we still have a lot of snow and in the back of my mind I am just howling with laughter! Maybe I should put some picks up here about the the days of what a real snow day at school was all about.

I just can’t wrap my head around the weird weather that we all are experiencing. Is it just me or is this the case?

Finally working with Rick

October 04, 2007 By: Chris Category: Music Styles, My Experiences, Playing Guitar No COMMENTS →

I went to jam with Rick last night and it was just what I was looking for and much more.

As we were driving over to his home/studio he played me some of his demo stuff. As usual I was impressed but this one piece got my mind spinning in all different directions with these almost hidden ideas that I had locked away in my brain.

This was the style that I use to play in the old days of Pylis.

It has the keyboards front stage center the way I like it. I am the type of guitar player who loves to do some intricate background work while someone else takes the spot light. The only thing with this song is that there is someone else playing at the same caliber as myself that likes this same position in the tune. It has areas that are wide open to guitar interpretation that makes my mind spin and I’m loving every minute of it! I know I sound like Krammer from Seinfeld.

The second piece has this Rick Wakeman intro influence that ends up like a rockin’ rap type of feel to it. I know that I have not been exposed to this style before, but there is something in it that catches my attention in a very curious way. At this moment I have it looping through my mind and can’t stop it!

I will try to put some of it up on this site so you all can give me some input into what else I can bring to the piece. I will be looking forward to your insight.

How 4 Grand turned into $4M

October 02, 2007 By: Chris Category: Home and Lifestyle, Humor, Toronto No COMMENTS →

This is a make you feel good story that i came across while reading the Toronto Star the other day.

An 60 yr. old Elmira, just outside of Toronto, man went to see how his Lotto Super 7 ticket did and found out that he won $4000.00! Now that is a great story but it then turns out that the clerk at the store missed a few zero’s. You know how he found out, after mailing in the lucky ticket they called him back and asked him if he wanted to pick up the $4M’s in person. Yep, that’s right!

check out the full story in this link.
