Led Zepplin

July 27, 2007 by Chris

Well would you pay $250 for a chance to see them? I think that I would.

I would do this only for bragging rights I guess. I was going to see them in Buffalo in 1980 when Mr. Bonham passed away there fore canceling the show, the tour and Led Zeppelin as we knew them.

My thinking was that it was the correct thing for them to do.

The best song Pylis ever did

July 15, 2007 by Chris

My most treasured song that I’ve had the privilege to have played live and that gave me the most goose bumps was Don’t be Late by Saga. It was also the best song, hands down, that we ever pulled off and there were many of them left in the hat!

The song had it all. It was a slow ballad one minute and then all out Prog Rock insanity the next.

The first solo was one that I could almost literally squeeze the sap out of the fretboard. I milked that one for all it’s worth! It was a cross between a David Gilmore and Alex Lifeson’s Hemisphere’s influence. It almost made me cry it was just so beautiful! Then there was the second solo.

This solo was not so melancholy. It was staccato, fast and flowing. I also had to be soloing seamlessly with the keyboardist Tony, but it was a treat to play with that guy!

So here’s a song that I was infatuated with to play live and I hope you love it too!

Keep on Jammin’

God bless Frampton Comes Alive

June 28, 2007 by Chris

Unless you grew up in around late 70’s while living under a rock, there was this album called “Frampton Comes Alive” (F.C.A). Have you heard of it? I know just about everyone, except for maybe people in the USSR and China, had it!

It was an album that pointed me towards this pop rock genre. I had rock, jazz, blues, folk all rolled up into one. The solo’s that Mr Frampton came up with was just plain and simply sweet. I still to this day have a fairly strong Peter Frampton influence to my work.

Some people say that this album was played to death, but in my eyes it still has legs. I mean 16 million copies sold worldwide to date and the thing was put out in 1975 for heavens sake! He also made F.C.A. II on DVD which was produced in 1995 and still being sold today.

A little trivia for all you Frampton fans. Did you know that he was one of only 3 bands to ever sell out a show at Philadelphia JFK stadium, which holds 110,000 people? The other two acts are Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones.

After watching this little gem of a video, I started to realize just how old this great piece of really is and how it greatly influenced me personally and musically.

God bless Frampton comes Alive

Ya know what really grinds my gears?

May 7, 2007 by Chris

Youtube and their ~!@#$%^&*()_+ copy right thingy! “This video has been removed due to terms of use violation”. They are really starting to drive me up the wall on this one.

I just wanted to write a new post about the funniest thing about roller skating out there! It was the one about Peter and the boys going to pick up Meg at the rink and take her home. They get there and decide to give a shot at skating around and then they break out into this dance routine that I literally fell off the couch laughing, ask my wife! I don’t know if you have seen this one, so I went to youtube to get a copy and it said that once again show you all, that’s it! This is what I saw “This video has been removed due to terms of use violation”. What is up with that.

I can understand a companies point of view that if someone blatantly uses a company’s entire product to make money then the company should get a piece of the pie. Sometimes people just want to see a good section of a show and get a good laugh out of it.

Don’t they seem to realize that viewing a short little didie of a show that they produce can only help to widen the viewing audience? I mean, if I put up a tiny fraction of their show on to Youtube then place it on my blog, it may help people see humor in a show that they may have written off as too offensive.

I am a person who follows the law of the land because without it, it would be a crazy world in which to live in. I adhere to the golden rule but this really grinds my gears!

Keep on Jammin’
