What does The Tragically Hip and Bath Ontario have in common

April 6, 2009 by Chris

So what does The Tragically Hip and Bath Ontario have in common? Well Canada’s ambassadors of Rock & roll, The Tragically Hip, has found this really cool place to practice their musical song writing artistry in the great city of Bath Ontario.

The band is an extension of Canada’s way of thinking and life style to most of us rockers up here. The village of Bath Ontario has the same sort of relationship to our country’s identity of the past and now the future. Bath was founded by United Empire Loyalists, who help forge our history as far back as 1784.

This village is found outside of Kingston Ontario, which happens to be the home town of The Tragically Hip.

I found this little bit of The Tragically Hips trivia while leafing through our latest installment of Macleans Magazine, a weekly Canadian News publication. It shows these intimate pictures of the band and their new castle! This venue would make any band jealous with envy!

So check it out and tell us if you had, or you knew a band that had, a practice hall quite like this before? I never had a rehearsal hall anything like this, but I would have killed for something like this in the past!

Keep on Jammin’

We are 175 years old

March 6, 2009 by Chris

I want to give my city, Toronto, the proverbial pat on the back for it achievements in the past and to many more in the future. As for you Dave. W., I don’t mind zigging and zagging while crossing the streets! The name of the post is like that song that Frank Zappa did when the US was celebrating it’s 200 years as a country in 1976?

Toronto really is a great place to live and grow up in. One of the best things this city has going for it is the mind boggling amount to different ethnic restaurants that are at your finger tips here! Seriously, Google it!

We have a great sports enthusiast here. There is one team that probably comes to mind when you think of Toronto and it’s the Leafs. I use to like them, but they are now considered to be like the little slow kid that was in one of your elementary class’s and they MADE YOU cheer him on! They are kinda like that 😉 I’m sorry, that comment was in bad taste. That child should not be lumped in with the Leafs, for that I am sorry.

Most cities have their pro’s and con’s and Toronto is no exception. If you’ve never been here before come on up, down or over to my neck of the woods and see what I mean! And don’t listen to Dave in Hamilton or where ever he hangs his hat!

Keep on Jammin’ Toronto

Well it’s not quite 40 below

February 6, 2009 by Chris

Ok, I fully realize what season we’re in but, holy shit it’s cold out there! Especially past my warmth of our living room door. Even the dog is not interested in staying outside any longer then she has to, and she’s a Labrador Retriever.

During these early days of February one can expect long, cold and cloudy days. You completely understand what the temperature actually feels like, even though your a bit fuzzy on how they actually achieve it, that little confusing thing they call the Wind Chill Factor.

Just a days ago I was taking the dog outside in front of the house for one of her many bathroom breaks and I came across one of our neighbours walking by the house. The conversation was very quick BTW consisting of Wow, it’s not all that bad out now is it and his response was Not all that bad really. When I came back in I looked at the temp on the weather network and it said that it was -14 (C) and -24 with the wind chill!

I wouldn’t even think about taking any of my guitars outside. Not even if I wrapped the guitar up BEFORE I put it in it’s case, wrap a towel around that and have the car all toasty warm inside eagerly waiting our arrival!

So all we have to do is sit back and look at the calender, it’s almost summer now isn’t it? If that fails to warm up your hearts, you can always go out and get yourself some ruby slippers, out them and start clicking your heels together saying “There’s now place like summer … ”

Keep on Jammin’
